I'm an Ohio girl, born and raised. I left home when I was 16 to attend Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan, then moved to New York to study at Fordham University at Lincoln Center. In addition to acting, I've worked as a writer, director, and literary manager.
I love the magic of storytelling. I grew up on Turner Classic Movies and re-runs of I Love Lucy. I go to the theatre in the way that other people go to church or temple; it's always been a kind of sanctuary for me. I work as a bartender in the Broadway theatres, and being able to watch the same shows night after night has been an education in and of itself. As an artist, I'm especially interested in creating work that puts women front and center. I'm currently writing my first musical (more on that soon!), and next year I'll be directing an all-female production of 1776.
I love to bake and decorate cakes, run marathons, and write about politics and social justice issues. I have a gray tabby cat named Maisie. I'm a little bit in love with the prime minister of Canada. And sometimes I still get upset about the burning of the Library of Alexandria, even though it happened thousands of years ago--I wish there was a word for that. ❖
